Fishbone's Angelo Moore on KSLG Wednesday, May 30 at 7 p.m.

On Wednesday, May 30 at 7 p.m. Myles will speak with Angelo Moore, frontman of Fishbone. They’ll be headlining with Summer Arts and Music Festival in Benbow on Saturday, June 2. Tickets are only available at the gate -- $15 for a day and $25 for the weekend, kids 12 and under free. More info at mateel.org.

Myles wants to ask Angelo about a bunch of stuff: The critical praise from their documentary “Everyday Sunshine: The Story of Fishbone,” which was narrated by Laurence Fishburne, the political controversy that ensued when The Roots played Fishbone’s “Lyin’ Ass B***” as Michelle Bachman’s entrance-music when she appeared as a guest on Jimmy Fallon’s TV show towards the end of last year, Fishbone’s latest EP “Crazy Glue,” collaborating with Slightly Stoopid again, reuniting with Primus soon, Moore’s recent knee surgery and many more fun surprises.

Jack White's retro ways: good for Blunderbuss, bad for women?

Jack White has released a new album, Blunderbuss, to the delight of (most) critics and fans, but The Atlantic's Jessica Misener finds a disturbing pattern when it comes to White's lyrics:

"But Blunderbuss, more than anything that's come before it, crystalizes White's longstanding issues with women. Maybe that's because it's his first-ever solo record, and maybe that's because it comes on the heels of his second divorce, from model Karen Elson. Either way, what it reveals is fascinating—though not pretty."
Warranted? The Guardian's Laura Barton thinks not:
"But it's worth disputing, because this type of character assassination is too easily and too casually spun, and perhaps more importantly, it bleeds all the joy out of rock'n'roll."

And Now We Read From ABK 4:17

You see a fair amount of Insane Clown Posse "Hatchet man" stickers on cars around Humboldt. But seeing ICP represented in a church?

The speaker keeps it very  positive, even when citing Psychopathic Recording artist Anybody Killa.

This is worth watching to the end.

Be happy!

Does kickass new music make you happy? Yay! Us, too. Oh, and maybe you should cut out your self-defeating self talk, too! John Matthews never succumbs to the negative. Be like that.

Rage Against the Machine and Rush Limbaugh? Not exactly a match made in heaven...

Rage Against the Machine

What Humboldt Does

If you spend any time on Facebook (and you know you spend entirely TOO MUCH time there!), then you noticed the rash of What ____ Does memes making the rounds. A perfect example of how something funny quickly becomes not through overkill. Or so we thought. North Coast Journal comic Seven-O-Heaven nailed it with this:

Nice job, fellas. And now, let's move on.
